Online Platforms
Online platforms are technologies that are grouped and used as a base to create and develop other outputs such as processes, applications, and technologies that we use daily.
There are 6 examples of online platform: Presentation and Visualization, Cloud Computing, Social Media, Web Page Creation, File Management, Mapping.
Presentation and Visualization
Presentation and visualization online platforms can help users present, share, and emphasize any type of data in different types of styles and organizations.
Honestly, I could spend all day on creating presentations! During groupworks, my favorite task is creating the presentations or visual aids for our group. And my favorite types of performance tasks? Infographics and brochures! I love experimenting with different elements, and I don't really like using templates; I just use them for basis.
My favorite online platform for this type is Canva. Canva anywhere, anytime.
Social
Media
Social media is probably the most known online platform amongst the six. With social media, people can create posts. People can interact with these posts, with each app having its own twist on how people can engage with posted content. The most frequent abilities are liking, commenting on, and sharing the post. From photos to videos to simple microblogs, almost anything on the Internet can be shared using social media.
The social media platform I use the most is Facebook, alongside its messaging app, Messenger. I can see what my family and friends post and share, and I often talk to them using Messenger.
Cloud Computing
Cloud computing platforms are basically computer storage on-the-go! Instead of using the usual local servers, you can store your data and files on remote serves with a network. Just like on computers, you can store, manage, share, and process your data.
Among OneDrive and Google Drive, which are the two cloud computing platforms I mainly used, I am more familiar with Google Drive. Google Drive offers free 15 GB for every Google account, so whenever I'm asked "why do you have so many Google accounts?", they basically mean that I have 3, and it's because I use them as storage, hehe.
Google Drive is very useful for submission and collaboration!
Google Drive is a file sharing platform that provides a personal, secure cloud storage option to share content with other users. (Description from Google Drive)
Google Drive is part of Google Workspace, meaning that it is part of online collaboration. Check out the other Google Apps mentioned in this video!
